The length of variable names can now be up to 255 characters instead of 40 prior to this evolution.

In addition, the following limits are changed:
  • A variable name can now be based on up to 12 branch segments instead of 6,
  • Variable descriptions can also be up to 255 characters,
  • Text extended attributes can be up to 100 characters.

The dialog boxes displayed during the startup phase have been widely improved, including the various information/warning messages.
In particular, the project selection dialog box now includes more information such as the project format version, the date of last modifiation and the total size of the project folder.

The version of the Supervisor used to modify a project is stored since version 9.0. Starting with version 10.0, a message is displayed at startup for confirming running a project with a version newer than the last one used. This evolution is designed to avoid mistakenly launching and modifying a project with a newer version compared to the one used in production.

X

A series of performance improvements have been implemented, in particular related to the time required to start and stop the Supervisor: Variable and trend loading and unloading.
The amount of memory required to manage some runtime elements has been reduced, in particular variables and alarm synthesis.
X
The installation package has been fully re-designed.
It is now based on the Microsoft® Windows Installer technology and supports the modification mode as well as minor upgrades without uninstallation.
The set of features that can be installed separately from each other is improved to facilitate the identification of key components while installing the software. It also allows minimizing the amount of files installed onto the computer. As an example, you can now choose to install the online help and the documentation for certain languages only.
Finally, the downloadable packages splitting has been reviewed. The size of the minimal Core package is half smaller than it used to be.
X X
The language couple is no more a choice at installation time, but a project setting. X X
In addition to sending emails, it is now possible to send short text messages from the Supervisor.   X

HMI

End-user

Designer

New graphic controls similar to the Microsoft Form Controls are now available. It includes the following new graphic elements:
  • List-box,
  • Combo-box,
  • Option-button-list,
  • Check-box-list,
  • Tree-view.
The tree-view supports all usual animations corresponding to commands.
In most cases, they can be used without scripting; SCADA Basic scripting is available for more advanced uses.
These new built-in graphic elements are supported via WebVue.
X X
Png format is now supported for images. X X
The trend viewer can now display up to 12000 points per pen instead of 4000 until now. This enhancement fixes most of the issues related to partial curve drawing. X

Historical Data management

End-user

Designer

In addition to multiple active server association, the HDS now supports redundancy following the single active server association scheme. Using such architecture allows a couple of HDS servers to store data in the same SQL Server database. Only one HDS server is active at a time and writes records to the database, the other server being passive and ready to take the hand if necessary.

X

X

As a consequence of the new limits for variable name length, HDS table structures created with an earlier version of the Supervisor need to be changed.
Depending on the size of your databases, this operation is done automatically at first start-up of your project with version 10.0, or has to be done before launching the project, with the help of SQL scripts supplied with the Supervisor. In any case, it is advised to backup HDS databases prior to upgrading.
See the document named HDS Database Migration.pdf in the documentation addenda for more information.

Configuration environment

End-user

Designer

The Application Explorer is a new tool dedicated to configuration and diagnostics.

It is a fully integrated environment, designed with recent operating systems in mind. Starting now, it is the place where you will be able to configure most of your projects, including data acquisition, variables, alarms, archiving, user accounts, server features...

It comes with:
  • A new tree-based navigation among the various types of configuration elements,
  • Re-designed grouping of project settings,
  • Copy, cut, paste feature to save time while configuring variables,
  • Use the keyboard or the mouse according to your habits.

X

X

The Application Architect is a new tool dedicated to application modelling.

Based on template definitions and their instantiation, it grows farther the power of the object oriented approach available for years with branches and generic graphic elements, while keeping things simple. No programming is required.

X

X

Starting with version 10.0, you benefit from 3 complementary tools to design and maintain your applications:
  • The Smart Generators for mass configuration,
  • The Application Architect for application modelling,
  • The Application Explorer for element by element configuration, their customization and diagnostics.
A new variable selector is also available, bringing the power of the Application Explorer in the graphic design environment. In addition to selecting variables and data value visualization, it gives you the ability to finalize variable configuration when necessary.
